Ecclesiastes

Here are the summaries of our ongoing bible study exploration of the wisdom literature of Ecclesiastes.

Ecclesiastes 1:1–11

  • Main Point: We have no lasting change or impact under the sun and God’s creation remains long before or after us.
  • Purpose: To accept the perpetual repetitiveness—instead of frequent novelty—of our good God’s created world, albeit marred by sin.

Ecclesiastes 1:12–2:26

  • Main Point: Nothing in this world—be it wisdom or knowledge or madness or folly—can ever end human futility under the sun.
  • Purpose: Question the basis of why we believe in God.
  • Situation: There is a prevalent assumption that faithfulness to God automatically yields blessings, and these blessings are the source of fulfilment.

Blessings,
